Graham Stoop came to ERO in March 2007 from the position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Canterbury. From 2004 to 2006 he was the Principal and CEO at the Christchurch College of Education. Prior to that, he was Principal of Burnside High School for seven years.
Graham’s teaching career includes positions in Wellington, Christchurch and Edinburgh schools. He has a PhD from the University of Canterbury and also holds postgraduate qualifications in education, educational administration and philosophy from other New Zealand and Australian universities. Most recently he has studied at Oxford and Harvard Universities. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management.
Diana was appointed to the position of National Manager Evaluation Services in 2007. She joined ERO in 1990 as a Review Officer in Whanganui. She became a Senior Review Officer in 1996 and was appointed Area Manager for Whanganui in 1998. In 2002 she became the Area Manager for Whanganui and Napier offices, and in 2006 she was appointed the National Manager Analysis and Policy in ERO’s national office.
Diana has prior teaching and management experience in early childhood services, in special education, and as senior teacher for kindergartens. She holds a Master of Public Management degree from Victoria University of Wellington, and has undertaken evaluation studies at the Evaluators Institute, Washington.
Makere has been with ERO since October 1989, before which she was a school principal and inspector.
She worked as a review officer in Wellington before her appointment as Senior Review Officer in Te Uepū-ā-Motu (Māori Review Services) in 1996. She has been managing the work of Te Uepū-ā-Motu since 2001, and has played an important part in implementing a revised process and evaluation criteria for the review of kura kaupapa Māori and ngā kōhanga reo.
Dale has worked in education for his entire career. He started as a teacher of social studies and geography in a coeducational secondary school, then worked with ERO in Auckland for seven years. From 2007 he worked for Career Services rapuara and most recently was the Northern Area Manager and General Manager Operations (acting) for Careers New Zealand. During his time at Careers New Zealand he led the career education programme and the development of career education benchmarks for intermediate & secondary schools and tertiary education.
Dale rejoined the Education Review Office as the National Manager Review Services Northern in 2013. The Te Rai Raki region has offices in both Hamilton and Auckland.
Dale has a MA (Hons) in Geography from Massey University and a Masters in Public Management from Victoria University of Wellington. He has been very involved in heritage governance, most recently serving on the Auckland War Memorial Museum board.
Joyce has been acting manager in the Central region since March 2012. She has been with ERO since 1990 after a background in early childhood teaching, teacher training and parent education. She worked as a review officer based in Nelson and was appointed as a senior review officer in 2004. The roles supported her continued development of skills, knowledge and professional practice as an evaluator in all three pre-tertiary sectors of education. Joyce has a MBA and has been a Review Services Manager in Te Tai Pokapū since 2009. The diverse region has offices in Napier, Whanganui and Wellington.
Graham has worked in education for nearly 40 years and has been a teacher, deputy principal and principal in rural and city primary schools in South Canterbury, Wairarapa and Manawatu. After a period of short secondments he joined ERO permanently as a Review Officer in ERO’s Whanganui office in 2003. Graham was appointed Senior Review Officer in 2004 and Area Manager in 2007, and has been National Manager Review Services Southern since 2009. ERO has two offices in the South Island, in Christchurch and Dunedin.
In 2011 Graham completed a Masters in Public Management through the School of Government at Victoria University. He also holds a B.A. in Education and English.
Jeremy joined ERO in 1997 as the Human Resources Manager and was appointed to his current role in 2008. Jeremy has made a career in the public sector. Prior to ERO he worked for many years for the Inland Revenue Department where he held a variety of roles around New Zealand, culminating in managing the IRD’s service centre for the lower South Island.
The Corporate Services group of ERO is responsible for communications, human resources, finance, legal services, information systems, internal audit, strategy and shared services.
