Complaints process

Do you have a complaint?

About an ERO Review

If you have a complaint about the way ERO has carried out any aspect of a review in a school or early childhood education service, we would be pleased to hear from you.

The first step is to contact a Review Services Manager or National Manager Review Services in your area. You could phone the Review Services Manager to talk about the complaint if you like. Formal complaints need to be in writing (including email). We will acknowledge your complaint within five working days, and will get a full response or an explanation to you as reasonably possible.

We would like to give the best service we can, so if there is something we can do differently we would like to know about it.

About ERO

If your complaint is about an aspect of ERO that is not connected with a school or early childhood education review, then please contact the National Manager Public Affairs (phone 0-4-474 1228), or email. Your complaint will be given to the appropriate manager and will be acknowledged within five working days. You will get a full response as soon as possible.

How to make a complaint

All formal complaints to ERO should be in writing. Please give your name and contact details; the date of the review or incident; what has made you dissatisfied; and details of your complaint. We would like to know what you would like to see happen.

Please send the complaint to a Review Services Manager, National Manager Review Services or the National Manager Public Affairs.

We aim to:

  • investigate your complaint promptly, fully and impartially;
  • acknowledge receipt within five days and tell you who is handling your complaint; and
  • give you a full response as soon as possible, or tell you why we are not able to do so.

In addition we will take your comments into consideration to improve our own performance where appropriate. We cannot comment on the personal employment matters of an individual. If you are unhappy with the way we have responded to your complaint, or if you think we have not addressed the matters you have raised, please write to the Chief Review Officer to ask for a review of the way we have handled your complaint.
