Modern New Zealand learning practice: glossary

Modern learning practice is changing the ways students engage with their learning, how they learn and what they learn. With these changes come a variety of new terms. Many New Zealand schools are adapting their pedagogy, systems, environments, use of digital technology, and how they collaborate with other schools in order to meet the needs of modern students.

This is Modern New Zealand Learning Practice (MLP). It is current best practice. It is helping students to become confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners who are able to seize the opportunities offered by new knowledge and technologies to secure a sustainable social, cultural, economic and environmental future for our country. (The New Zealand Curriculum, page 8)

ERO has put together a glossary is designed to promote a shared understanding of those terms currently used in MLP, across all education agencies, educators, parents and whānau, and students. We've also attached a short survey so you can tell us what you think.
