Reviews of Māori medium kura

Māori medium kura are reviewed by Te Uepū ā-Motu, ERO’s Māori Review Services team. ERO publishes its reports on these kura in te reo Māori and in English.

ERO and Te Rūnanga Nui o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori have developed a review process for Te Aho Matua kura, and special review material is available (see below under frameworks and evaluation indicators). For other kura, including kura ā-iwi, kura Māori, and kura motuhake, the review coordinator will discuss the scope of the review at the beginning of the process.

Frameworks and evaluation indicators

ERO’s frameworks for reviews explain the review process in a transparent and easy-to-understand way. The evaluation indicators are used to inform the judgements ERO makes when reviewing. They help school trustees, principals, teachers and others understand the basis for ERO’s judgements.

Please note that ERO has separate processes for reviews of private kura and schools.
