  5. Inclusion of Children with Special Needs in Early Childhood Services

    This national report presents the findings of ERO's recent evaluation of how well early childhood services include children with moderate to severe special needs. This evaluation supports the Government's priority for every child to have the opportunity to participate in early childhood education (ECE).

  6. KiwiSport in Schools

    KiwiSport is a government initiative established in 2009 to increase opportunities for school-aged children to participate in organised sport. This report presents the findings of a questionnaire ERO gave to schools about the impact of KiwiSport funding.

  7. Alternative Education: An Evaluation of the Pedagogical Leadership Initiative

    In 2011 the Ministry of Education introduced funding for pedagogical leadership in alternative education to improve the quality of teaching and learning. This evaluation examined the impact of that funding initiative by looking at the work of 10 clusters providing alternative education.

  8. Reporting to Parents: National Standards Years 4 to 8

    This ERO report is part of a series of reports being published over three years about aspects of the implementation of the National Standards in English-medium schools, with students in Years 1 to 8. The report focuses on schools’ progress with reporting to parents in relation to the National Standards.

  9. Schools’ Provisions for International Students

    This evaluation looked at how effectively schools provide for the needs of their international students. The findings showed that the majority of schools reviewed were effective in their overall approach, but only three-quarters were able to show that their international students were progressing or achieving very well or well.
