Introduction

This evaluation reports on the success of Māori students in schools reviewed by ERO in Terms 2 and 3, 2009. The study included 60 secondary schools and 227 primary schools.

The findings of this evaluation are set out in three sections:

  • presence (being at school)
  • engagement (engaging with learning)
  • achievement (being successful).

Each of these sections explores the factors that promote the success of Māori students. These sections also include examples of effective and less effective practice.
