ERO publishes an annual report each year.
Our annual report sets out the operating context, our strategic direction, what we aimed to achieve over the previous 12 months, and what we did achieve.
It also outlines our role and the scope of our functions, reports on organisational health and capability, and includes our financial statements and service performance.

We all acknowledge that schools are busy, complex entities with competing priorities and multiple demands on their time and resources. Our mahi is to inform and facilitate improvement in early childhood services, schools and kura. We do this through our institutional reviews and system-wide evaluation and research that is focused on the provision of education and the care of learners. In late 2021 ERO’s Chief Executive, Nicholas Pole, has given his assurance that only staff who comply with the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order will be permitted to visit schools and early learning services from Monday 15 November 2021. By 1 January 2022, only fully vaccinated staff will be able to work at or visit schools and early learning services.

ERO is now resuming longitudinal (1 to 2 year) reviews but will not be restarting other individual school education reviews and reporting until later in the year. However, we do want to capture the learning and innovation that is happening in the sector at this time.
