From today, ERO begins delivering new functions across early childhood education services and kōhungahunga, private schools and hostels. This brings review, evaluation and regulatory responsibilities closer together, creating a clearer place for providers, parents and whānau to go for information, concerns, complaints and other matters.
One place to connect, and better outcomes for children and mokopuna.
This is more than a transfer of functions. It is an opportunity to strengthen the way ERO supports safe, high-quality education and care for children and young people through our work. By bringing together reviews, regulation, licensing, certification, monitoring and enforcement activities, ERO will be better placed to build a fuller picture of quality, performance and risk across the settings we review and regulate, improving how we support the sector and strengthening the systems that help keep children, mokopuna and young people safe, supported and able to thrive.
