We have launched a new section of the ERO website to provide updates and information about our incoming regulatory responsibilities. The page brings together key information, resources and frequently asked questions for early learning services, kōhungahunga, private schools, school hostels, parents and whānau.

From 1 September 2026, ERO will take on regulatory responsibilities currently carried out by the Ministry of Education. Until then, there are no changes in place and services, schools and providers should continue to work with the Ministry of Education and ERO as they do today.
The new page explains what is happening now, what is happening next, upcoming milestones and developments, and where to find further information and support. We will continue to update the page as implementation progresses.
