About quality reviews in Governing organisations | Akatea
Many early learning services are part of a Governing Organisation. A Governing Organisation is an early childhood education provider that oversees ten or more services and supports quality, compliance, leadership and continuous improvement across those services. Governing Organisations may oversee a range of service types, including kindergartens, early learning centres, Pacific early learning services, playcentres, home-based services and crèches.
ERO reviews Governing Organisations to understand how effectively they support positive outcomes for children and mokopuna across the services they oversee. Reviews consider how organisational leadership, systems and practices support quality education and care, promote continuous improvement, and help services meet regulatory requirements. ERO also looks at what is working well, where improvement may be needed, and how organisations support their services to achieve positive outcomes for children, mokopuna, whānau and communities.

A new review approach for Governing Organisations is being introduced.
